We are located in the picturesque market town* of Ely, near Cambridge, England.
* Ely is actually a city! It’s apparently the second (or possibly third, if you count the city of London) smallest city in the UK.
Ely is known as the Isle of Eels, due to its geographical status as a Fen Island. It was an actual island before the Fens were drained in the 1600s.
Eels were plentiful, and used as a form of currency in ancient times.
Ely rises up out of the low Fen landscape, and the magnificent Ely Cathedral is visible for many miles around. Also known as The Ship Of The Fens, it was founded by St Etheldreda in 673 AD.
